Author of Courage to be ME

A deeply personal, breathtakingly honest account of one gutsy, determined woman’s journey towards the values-driven, purposeful, joy-filled life. Di writes openly and movingly about the physical and emotional toll of breast cancer, the tumultuous breakdown of her 29-year marriage and standing up for herself against workplace bullying.
She chronicles the juggling act that’s managing a demanding career in nursing while mothering two sons. She writes lovingly and insightfully about her parents – the impact of her father's death and her mother’s battle with dementia.
Last but most certainly not least, Di describes overcoming the lingering sense of never being ‘enough’ by launching the business that’s become a testament to her commitment to providing compassionate care and made her a leading advocate for change in Australia’s disability and aged care sectors.
Heart driven businesswoman
Di is the Founder and Director of the disability community care provider Exceptional Care for You (ECFY). In 2021, Di used a precious $10,000 inheritance to launch Exceptional Care for You from a spare bedroom in her home.
Today, ECFY employs 90 people and has an annual turnover exceeding $5 million. Everything that Di stands for – compassion, optimism, dedication, excellence and joy is embedded in the DNA of her organisation.
ECFY is renowned for the breadth and depth of its outstanding, individualised care for clients, as well as its workplace culture grounded in kindness, inclusivity, and support.
I realised that at 54, I needed to work according to my values ...
... and time was running out to achieve that, unless I started my own company. So that’s exactly what I did.
